She has since responded, shutting down those who she normally doesn’t respond to and telling them that the so-called “console war” doesn’t exist among game devs, who often work between companies and play each other’s games.

“I get that these console fanboys think that there’s, like, this constant war. But the truth is that the games industry has people shared around all the time between many of these companies because there are only so many jobs available in game development,” Alanah explained.

“If there’s anything consistent between all the people I know who work at Playstation, or who work at Nintendo, or who work at Xbox, is that they don’t care.”

She went on to explain that, from her perspective, the video game industry is in its infancy and that the entire industry gets excited when a studio puts years of effort into a game and makes a massive leap forward in furthering the medium.

“People in the games industry like and care about video games as a whole. I am not concerned about sales or pieces of hardware or content. I am concerned about doing my job well and making a good video game and enjoying what everyone else makes, too.”

Pearce also clarified that Sony doesn’t restrict her from talking about Xbox or Nintendo and that she actually gets less exclusive stuff from Sony now that she works for them directly. The fact that she’s employed by them keeps her from being able to review or give impressions on anything coming from Sony-owned studios.

She concluded, “The console war stuff that ya’ll think matters so much doesn’t actually matter to anyone on my level. We all just love videogames.”
