Summary
Batman: Caped Crusaderwill feature a talented ensemble cast as it follows The Dark Knight and his impressive rogues gallery. The animated series is set to debut on Amazon Prime Video August 06, 2025. Matt Reeves, director ofThe Batman, and J.J. Abrams signed on as an executive producers, and Ed Brubaker, the writer behindCaptain America: The Winter SoldierandWestworld(2016) serves as the head writer for the DC animated series.
The series was originally intended to release on HBO Max, but when Warner Bros. Discovery was altering the slate, and canceling several projects in August 2022, the show was canceled before it saw the light of day. However, Amazon Prime has now picked up the series for at least two seasons (viaEmpire). The show is set to act as a spiritual sequel to1992’sBatman: The Animated Series. While the cast is completely new, the show promises to feature many of the most notable and familiar characters from theBatmancomics.
