Ben Stiller knows the ending of Severance, but there’s a catch
As we near the end of Severance Season 2, executive producer and frequent director Ben Stiller says he know how the entire show ends, just with one specific qualification.
Severanceis a show that’s filled with mystery, thanks to episodes frequently posing as many questions as they answer.

There are clues inepisode titles, as well asbooks, paintings, and newspapers featured in the show. Which have given fans food for thought, while also firing up the Severance Reddit boards.
Severance Season 2ends this week withEpisode 10– called ‘Cold Harbor‘ – when we’ll hopefully getanswers about Gemma, the nature ofMDR’s work, and the meaning of the Cold Harbor file. But on a recent podcast, Ben Stiller has been looking even further ahead.

The ending of Severance is already set, kind-of
Since the start of 2025, Ben Stiller and Severance star Adam Scott have been hosting aSeverance podcastin which they do a deep-dive into each episode, and speak to members of the cast and crew.
Across their coverage of Seasons 1 and 2, they’ve interviewed Severance creator Dan Erickson, as well as stars John Turturro, Britt Lower, Christopher Walken, Patricia Arquette, and Zach Cherry, who is quietly delivering thebest performance on TV right now.

But they’ve also invited celebrity fans on, and during one of those shows, talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel asked a question we all want answered.
The conversation occurred during a discussion about Lost, comparing the ‘mystery box’ aspect of the two shows, and questioning whether the creators of Lost knew where the show was going during the making of their series.

Severance star says Season 2 finale will leave “a lot of questions” for fans
“Do you know the ending?” Kimmell asks Stiller, to which Ben immediately responds with what sounds like some certainty, “Yes!”
However, he then qualifies that answer by adding: “Here’s what I’ll say – exactly how we’re getting there is not always completely set, and I think that’s important. It’s like, we know where we’re going, but every little beat – to me that’s the creative process that we’re figuring out as we go along, and we want that to be flexible as we’re going forward.”
So there you have it – the destination in Severance is set, but the journey there isn’t, meaning routes could change as the story progresses.
