Blue Lock Season 2’s Story Explained
Anime Series by 8bit; Based on the Manga by Muneyuki Kaneshiro & Yusuke Nomura
Blue Lockseason 2 will pick up where season 1 left off withthe Blue Lock program training for a match against Japan’s U20 teamto prevent the program from being shut down, with things made even more complicated by Rin’s brother, world-renowned soccer player Sae Itoshi, playing for the U20 in the match. Season 2 is set to finally explore why Rin hates his brother so much all while introducing a slew of new characters from both Blue Lock and the U20, so in terms of story, there’s plenty to be excited about for old and new fans alike.
Blue Lock Season 2’s Episode Count Hints at a Better Production
Blue Lockseason 2 will only run for 14 episodes, barely half of season 1’s episode count, but that’s a good thing. One of the biggest criticisms of season 1 washow lackluster and inconsistent the art and animation tended to be, but with season 2’s short episode count, it might do a better job of having high-quality and consistent art and animationthanks to the staff having a smaller workload. An eventual trailer will give a better idea of how things will progress visually, but that could still be great for theBlue Lockanime, regardless.
The length of the U20 arc in the manga is also a big factor in everything. The U20 arc goes from volume #12 to volume #17, meaning thatBlue Lock’s U20 arc is about half as long as what was adapted into season 1 of the anime, so from the very start, it was an arc that welcomed a smaller and tighter production compared to the lengthy one given to season 1. The U20 arc deserves to look as good as possible, and hopefully,Blue Lockseason 2 will deliver on that in ways that season 1’s production couldn’t have.
