Summary

The upcoming expansion,Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred, was shown off in a fittingly creepy trailer for the DLC at this year’s Xbox Games Showcase, a part of the larger2024 Summer Game Fest. At the conclusion of the trailer, which focused on Neyrelle and her struggles with the soulstone, the release date for the expansion was announced. No gameplay was shown yet, asthis trailer is said to be the opening cinematic to the DLC, and no additional word on the prospect of new character classes.

Diablo 4’s expansion,Vessel of Hatred, will be released on June 22, 2025, for Xbox and PC. Interestingly, there was no indication in this trailer for the PS5 release, although the expansion was announced last November for PlayStation.

Presumably, the lack of PlayStation’s logo in the trailer was more a result of this being presented at the Xbox Games Showcase, rather than any delays for the PS5 release.

Diablo 4: Vessel Of Hatred Trailer Is Filled With Horror

Just In Time For Halloween

Diablo 4, and the rest of theDiabloseries, has never been known for being bright and cheerful. With each new bit of Seasonal content and every game trailer, it seems that the world of Sanctuary gets darker and more horror-filled. For this first expansion to the game,Vessel of Hatred, it seems thatplayers will be following the journey taken by Neyrelle as she is succumbing to the effects of Mephisto’s hatredand magic within the soulstone.

Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatredwill take place in the jungles of Nahantu, where Neyrelle must attempt to keep Mephisto at bay.The expansion will include an all-new playable class, although the Xbox Showcase trailer did not give any hints as to this class’s abilities or design. This class is presumably called the Spiritborn, and pre-orers of the game can award special Spiritborn armor which has a distinct jungle design to it.
