Dukes of Hazzard car jumps over 150ft fountain in front of massive crowd
A replica of the Dukes of Hazzard car, also known as the General Lee, has gone viral on social media after jumping 150 feet over a water fountain.
The stunt took place in Somerset, Kentucky, during the Somernites Cruise on Saturday, June 28. The event was held to celebrate its 25th anniversary, which runs each year between April and October.
Stuntman Raymond Kohn ofNortheast Ohio Dukesdrove the replica car over the fountain, a stunt inspired by the TV show The Dukes of Hazzard that ran from 1979 to 1985.
“This is a very scary situation,” said Kohn ina statement to Variety. “You’re putting yourself in a life-and-death situation on purpose, and I just need to focus on one thing, hitting that ramp, and that’s it. I’ve hit that ramp a lot of times, so…we have a pretty good idea of how the car is going to behave.”
Various videos of the jump have gone viral across social media, with clips making their way to TikTok, X, Instagram, and more.
Actors from the show were there
According to Variety, over 35,000 people were there to watch the stunt take place, but it wasn’t just fans who lined the streets of Somerset.
John Schneider and Byron Cherry, the actors who played Bo and Coy Duke respectively, and are the guys who drove the iconic car in The Dukes of Hazzard, were at the event signing autographs for fans.
“Ray hooked me up with [the event director], and that’s how I got here, and then Schneider heard about it, and he’s here,” Cherry said. “I have little kids out there, 3, 4, 5 years old … [who] know the show better than I know it. It’s just a blessing to be part of history.”

Fans of the Dukes have called for a reboot of the show for years, but nothing has come to fruition outside ofthe occasional rumor of it coming to Netflix.
