Everything we know about DCU’s Bane & Deathstroke movie after major update
A Bane and Deathstroke movie is reportedly coming to theDCU– though details are still scarce, an insider just revealed a major update. So, here’s everything we know so far about the villainous team-up headed for the big screen.
It’s all part of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s ambitious new DC Universe, which just kicked off (officially) with the arrival ofSuperman. Now, hype is building for the upcomingSupergirlstarring Milly Alcock.

While this slate is still taking shape, the duo have teased plenty of surprises, including an R-rated horror featuring the Batman villainClayface. Gunn and Safran are also focused on finding their nextBatmanand Wonder Woman.
As for Bane and Deathstroke, they aren’t new to live-action. Tom Hardy’s muffled menace in The Dark Knight Rises left a mark, while Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke briefly appeared inJustice League. But a joint film is brand new territory.

Is there a Bane & Deathstroke release date?

Since the movie is still in the very early stages, there is no release date as of July 2025.

Gunn and Safran are yet to comment on the project. However, sources toldThe Hollywood Reporterlast September that a Bane and Deathstroke project is going ahead at the DCU.
Matthew Orton, who contributed to theCaptain America: Brave New Worldscript, is reportedly on writing duties, with no director attached to the film for now.

We got another exciting update on August 25, 2025 from Hollywood insider and reporter Umberto Gonzalez. Appearing onThe Box Office Podcast, he was asked which solo movie he wants to see in the DC Universe.

Gonzalez took it one step further, saying, “The one that they actually have a script for that was recently delivered: my favorite DC villain and my favorite anti-hero, Deathstroke and Bane. The script is in. So they have it, and I’m going to put that in the reporting.”
Who are Bane & Deathstroke?
Bane and Deathstroke are two of the most dangerous characters in the DC Universe – and definitely not the kind of guys you’d want to cross.
Bane first appeared in Batman: Vengeance of Bane #1 in 1993 and is best known for breaking Batman’s back in the iconic Knightfall storyline. A super-strong tactician powered by the drug Venom, he’s as smart as he is brutal.
Deathstroke, aka Slade Wilson, debuted way back in The New Teen Titans #2 in 1980, and is a master assassin with enhanced strength and reflexes.
While they’ve each taken on major DC heroes solo, this marks the first time they could be teaming up – or possibly facing off – in a live-action movie.
Fan casting
Obviously, it’s way too early to hear of any official casting news. However, that hasn’t stopped fans from putting names forward of actors they hope to see take on the roles of Bane and Deathstroke.
“Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Dave Bautista for me,”wroteone. “Fat chance, I know. Bautista has already said that ship has sailed and Nikolaj has never entertained comic-centric movies.”
“Scott Adkins as Bane and Jensen Ackles as Deathstroke,” said another, while a third added, “Andrew Lincoln as Deathstroke, JD Pardo or Laz Alonso as Bane.”
What might the plot be?
Right now, any guesses about the plot are just that: guesses. But with both characters being calculating, lethal, and not exactly team players, there’sa lot of potential for conflict.
Some comics fans have shared ideas, with onesuggestingit might be connected to the DCU Batman movie,The Brave and the Bold.
“The Brave and the Bold is based on [Grant] Morrison’s run. Morrison’s run has the League of Assassins/Leviathan as main villains. Bane was a member of the League of Assassins.
“Slade worked with the League of Assassins and most importantly worked with Leviathan during Morrison’s run.
“So… team up movie that presents two characters that are heavily involved with the major storyline of the Brave and the Bold and who probably will appear in that movie. Easy as it gets.”
Until more is confirmed, fans will just have to keep speculating. We’ll be sure to keep this post updated as and when new information comes in.
