Summary
Interview with the Vampirestars Jacob Anderson and Delainey Hayles have explained the shocking Louis and Claudia betrayal that happened in season 2, episode 6, teasing how much of a tragedy their new situation is going to be. The newest episode ofInterview with the Vampireseason 2sees Louis agree to turn dressmaker Madeleine into a vampire so Claudia has a companion, much like how the protagonist has Armand. However, disaster strikes in the episode’s final minutes, as Armand betrays the group, who are captured and put on trial by Santiago and theThéâtre des Vampires.
Speaking withEntertainment Weekly, Anderson and Hayles - who portray Louis and Claudia respectively - opened up about Armand’s betrayal of the pair inInterview with the Vampireseason 2. The duo explainhow tragic this development is, especially now that Claudia has a companionof her own and the pair are finally starting to settle down with people they love. Check out what Anderson and Hayles had to say about the episode’s ending below:

Jacob Anderson:Louis is seemingly on top of everything — he’s become this very callous, cold businessman and kind of fallen back into 1910s Louis, just with a new shine. To see that collapse in that way was really interesting, and that scene is such a strange scene, in the cafe. It feels very unreal and sort of like dreamy and weird. But the biggest tragedy, really, of that episode and the season, is you really see that Madeleine and Claudia got it right.
Delainey Hayles:She’s elated that somebody’s put her first, and that person is for her, and that’s it. Claudia’s always been a second choice, and she didn’t have a choice in what happened to her, who she became, her circumstances, but she can choose somebody that puts her first and when she does, that person chooses her back. It’s a very pure and lovely relationship.

Jacob Anderson:They figured out, at least in theory, what vampire companionship can be and what the antidote to vampire loneliness is. They’re like the dream of it and it’s such a beautiful relationship. Then to see it be immediately taken away from them at that stage is really heartbreaking. They’re about to travel the world and now they’re captured.
How Armand Betraying Louis & Claudia Will Impact Season 2’s Final Episodes
As indicated by Louis in the present day,he remembers Armand’s betrayal of the group, allowing the Coven to scoop them up for judgment in front of a waiting audience. This is compounded by the return of Lestat, whose presence at the upcoming trial will no doubt spark even more drama in both the past and present-day storylines. With so manycharacters fromInterview with the Vampireconverging on this particular moment, it seems this will be the biggest event the show has ever established.
Given the pain these memories no doubt bring back for Louis, it’s possible his anger at the past will translate into something just as frightening in the present. This part of the story comes off the heels of him believing Armand betrayed him again, erasing his memories about San Francisco so he couldn’t recall walking out into the sunlight. However, his partner claims he was fulfilling his request, indicating how loyal he’s truly been in an attempt to remedy past mistakes. Even so, there could still be underlying resentment that comes out during the interview process.
The betrayal might even be setting the stage forInterview with the Vampireseason 3, something that seems likely given how much about the Talamasca and their connection to vampires hasn’t been explored.Perhaps the information Louis recalls can be used to lead into another book from Anne Rice’sVampire Chronicles, such asThe Vampire LestatorThe Queen of the Damned. With two episodes left in this season, though, it seems the biggest focus will be on the forthcoming tragedy, which could alter the trajectory of the show forever.
