That success has come at a cost, however, and that cost is audiences throwing popcorn throughout the movie, and evenbringing a live chickeninto one screening.

The wild fan reaction has resulted incops being called, cinemas warning patrons to behave or be thrown out, and directorJared Hess issuing a response to the controversy. And one theater invited a special guest along to make an unusual pre-screening announcement.

Jack Black stars as Steve in A Minecraft Movie, the film’s breakout character, as well as the person who shouts the “chicken jockey” line that’s causing much of the bother.

At a recent screening of the movie, before the film started, an official-sounding voice could be heard over the theater’s speakers, saying: “For today’s presentation of A Minecraft Movie, please, no throwing popped corn, and also no Lapis Lazuli, and also absolutely no chicken jockey!”

The man speaking then appears at the front of the auditorium, and it’s Jack Black holding an axe, which causes the place to go wild.

“I am Steve!” Black continues. “Look what I brought, my actual pickaxe! Are you ready to rock? Ladies and gentlemen, please enjoy, A Minecraft Movie. Roll the projector.”

Black is the second Minecraft Movie maker to address the chaos unfolding in cinemas, with director Jared Hess recentlytellingEntertainment Weekly: “It’s weird when you’re having too much fun and the cops get called.

“It’s funny because I think it’s just literally cheering and throwing popcorn, which is so funny to me that cops are getting called for popcorn. It’s hilarious.”

Hess added: “I’ve seen so many funny videos. It’s great, especially when people are climbing on their friends’ shoulders and standing up and cheering for those moments. I’m just glad people are making memories with their friends and families.”
