James Cameron & Kate Winslet’s Titanic Feud Rumors Explained
What Winslet Has Said About Her Experience As Rose
The rumors regarding a feud between Cameron and Winslet seem to stem primarily from comments that Winslet made during a 1997 interview with theLos Angeles Times. The entire report is essentially about the troubled nature ofTitanic’s production and just how demanding Cameron was as the director. “If anything was the slightest bit wrong, he would lose it,” Winslet said during the interview, adding: “It was hard to concentrate when he was losing it, shouting and screaming.”
In the same report, Winslet and others all testified, however, to Cameron’s passion for the material and willingness to push himself harder than anyone else to makeTitanicwork. “By the end I was existing on four hours sleep a day,” Winslet said, “But Jim was existing on three.” Cameron is said to have apologized when he was out of line and gone to lengths to ensure smoother experiences for theTitaniccastand crew, but Winslet did say:“You’d have to pay me a lot of money to work with Jim again.”
The Real Reason James Cameron Cast Kate Winslet In Titanic
Titanic boosted Kate Winslet’s acting career, and she got the role of Rose thanks to her talent but also to her perseverance, as she really wanted it.
Of course, Cameron and Winslet would work together again.Winslet appeared as part of the cast ofAvatar: The Way of Waterin 2022 as Ronal, a key leader of the Metkayina Na’vi tribe, and she’s set to appear in2025’sAvatar 3, as well. WhileTitanicwas evidently a production that pushed its cast, crew, and director to their limits, it’s clear that there’s no bad blood between Cameron and Winslet.
Titanic
Cast
Titanic is the 1997 blockbuster romantic/disaster epic based on the events surrounding the sinking of the legendary “unsinkable” vessel. Flashing back to the past and forward to the present, the film primarily follows the stories of the well-to-do and somewhat timid Rose and the poor but lively Jack, star-crossed lovers who meet aboard the doomed ship. In addition, the film tells true and fictionalized accounts of the passengers of the RMS Titanic, with an older Rose recounting her tale to the crew of a research ship.
