Summary
Given the lore ofLeague of Legendsand the character changes it’ll have to include, I’m convinced thatArcane’supcoming second season will be way darker than the first season. Serving as a prequel to the popular videogame, Netflix’s animated showArcanelargely focused on characters across the twin cities of Piltover and Zaun. The former is a prestigious and well-off metropolis, whereas the latter is an undercity full of criminals and violence. The tensions between the two cities boiled over inArcane, spurned on by the personal conflict between estranged sistersVi and Jinxreaching an explosive turning point.
The trailer for season 2 promises the conflict will only escalate, with Vi and her allies in Piltover leading the charge directly into the streets of Zaun. However, given the show’s status as a prequel, there are certain character arcs that fans can infer will take place in season 2. While some highlighted heroes like Caitlyn and Ekko, other dark paths have been teased. Especially because it’s been confirmed thatArcanewill conclude with season 2, I’d be shocked if those lingering plot threads fromArcaneseason 1’s endingdon’t result in some stories for importantLeague of Legendscharacters.

9 League Of Legends Characters To Expect In Arcane Season 2
After several League of Legends characters were introduced in Arcane season 1, there are a handful of others who could debut in season 2.
Arcane Being A Prequel To League Of Legends Means Some Things Need To Happen
ArcaneNeeds To Build To Season 1’sLeague of LegendsLore
Arcaneseason 2 will need to complete multiple character arcsset up in season 1 that will transform tragic characters into their more iconic (and dangerous)League of Legendsincarnations.League of Legendsis a largely story-free game, operating primarily as a multiplayer MOBA. While other games from Riot have explored specific storylines, most of the Champions inLeague of Legendshave been defined by the time they make it to the Summoner’s Rift.Arcanewas exciting for longtimeLeague of Legendsfans like me precisely because of that fact, as it showcased the unseen storylines that created the characters.
The first season was largely focused on the divergent paths of Vi and her sister Powder, separating them for years and bringing them back together just to pit them against one another as the latter transformed into the casually murderous Jinx.Season 2 will follow that trend, with the trailer for the season confirming Vi will join the Piltover police. The character was established as a member of that organization in the games, so it makes senseArcanewould reveal how it happened. That also means other big arcs I’ve been waiting to see will likely factor into season 2.

Arcane Is Turning Warwick Into One Of League of Legend’s Most Tragic Figures
Vander’s Transformation Into Warwick Could Deeply ConnectArcaneToLeague Of LegendLore
In the first season ofArcane, Vander was the adopted father of Vi and Powder. A former freedom fighter who’d become an unofficial leader of Zaun, Vander’s attempts to maintain the peace eventually resulted in bloodshed. Vander himself was seemingly killed in a conflict with his former ally Silco, setting up Powder to fall under Silco’s sway. However, there were clues inArcaneseason 1 that suggested Vander survived, albeit in the care of Singed. Those moments, coupled with a few specific shots in theArcaneseason 2 trailer, hint that Vander will be reborn as the fearsome wolf-man, Warwick.
Fans like me have spent years theorizing Warwick’s potential connection to Vi and Jinx. In-game dialogue from Warwick suggested a bond between them that Warwick couldn’t quite remember or understand.Vander being transformed into Warwick would explain those lines, while also connecting the events of the show to Warwick’s background in the lore ofLeague of Legends. It’d be a fitting way to transform Warwick into one ofLeague of Legends' most tragic figures, recasting the champion into a noble man reduced to a fearsome beast. It would also confirm a long-held theory about Warwick amongLeague of Legendsfans.

I Have Mixed Feelings About Arcane Ending With Season 2 After 3 Years Of Waiting
Arcane, an animated series set in the League of Legends universe, is coming to an end after its long-awaited sophomore season — and it’s frustrating.
Singed Becomes A Very Different Kind Of Dangerous In League Of Legends
How The Complex Anti-Villain Could Become A More Dangerous Character InLeague Of Legends
InLeague of Legends, Singed was typically portrayed as a deadly and unsympathetic figure. While he may be fun to play, it was always hard to find any reason to actually like the character. That’s why I was so surprised by Singed’s role inArcaneseason 1, which recast him as one of Silco’s chief scientists. Heavily scared in the same battle that seemingly killed Vander, Singed was also revealed to be a surprisingly important mentor to Viktor and a grieving father. This quietly cast his in-game search for immortality through unethical science and lethal methods in a new light.
However, it’s likely that the more sympathetic Singed ofArcanewill need to grow colder and more deadly over the course of season 2, setting up the version of the character who appeared in other games. Singed’s apparent role in creating Warwick speaks to this kind of development, revealing how far Singed is willing to go in his experiments. With the conflict between Piltover and Zaun likely spilling into his corner of the undercity, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Singed fully throw himself into a more brutal approach to science that feels much more aligned with his game incarnation.

Viktor Needs To Complete His Dark & Dangerous Arc
Viktor’s Evolution Could Make HimArcane’s Most Dangerous Development
In my estimation, Viktor’s story is quietly one of the saddest parts ofArcaneseason 1. Afflicted with a deadly disease, Viktor has spent his life searching for a cure. Alongside his friend Jayce, their research into Hextech provided new hope. However, his experiments quickly got out of hand, costing the life of his loving assistant while changing him into a new form of machine/organic hybrid. This is a frightening development for fans of the original game, who knowViktor will eventually embrace that transformation to become the Machine Heraldthat seeks to “evolve” humanity by any means necessary.
Viktor’s arc inArcaneseason 2 will likely further that storyline, showcasing the lengths that the scientist is willing to go to survive and “help” others. It could even set up his arc against his best friend Jayce to parallel the storyline from season 1 between Jinx and Vi, highlighting how personal ambition and drive and turn the best of friends into the worst of enemies. I’d be shocked if Viktor’s arc inArcaneseason 2 didn’t build on the inherent drama of his original game incarnation, setting him up to become a frightening complication for Zaun and Piltover alike.
