McDonald’s reveals wild new sandwich that doesn’t use a bun

McDonald’s Japan has just revealed a wild new chicken sandwich that replaces the bun with two rice cakes.

McDonald’shas continued to innovate on menu items over the years with different sandwiches, meal combos, and even McFlurry flavors.

However, they’re often limited to stores outside of the United States. TheMcExtreme burger, for example, is limited to Spain, and the closest theBig Arch burgerhas gotten to the US is a Canada launch in 2024.

This latest release isn’t any different as it’s limited to McDonald’s Japan, but it features one massive change that left some fans surprised.

Thenew Japan-only sandwichfeatures McDonald’s fried chicken patty with either sweet and sour or tartar sauce.

However, instead of a bun, the company has replaced the bread with two grilled rice patties. If you want to stick with the more original version, however, you can have them replaced with a regular bun.

If you want the sandwich with the rice cakes, McDonald’s Japan is only selling them during dinner time. Anytime before 5 pm, the company will only sell it on bread.

The wild sandwich is a collaboration between McDonald’s Japan and the Anime series, Detective Conan, which aired in the United States under the title Case Closed.

This isn’t all that McDonald’s has been cooking up over the last few months, either, as the popular fast food restaurant is looking to bring Snack Wraps back to the United States for the first time in years.

On April 15, theynarrowed down the long-awaited releaseby posting a date that confirmed the return will happen sometime between April and July 04, 2025.

It’llfeature a new chicken stripas the base of the wrap, which is rumored to launch as a separate meal at McDonald’s as well.
