The possible new foe will be the ultimate test to see if Izuku’s wish came true.

While Kohei Horikoshi, the series’ creator, did not confirm this character would become a new antagonist, it was heavily implied in the chapter.

My Hero Academia Still Has One Massive Mystery That it’s Ending Needs to Answer

My Hero Academia is wrapping up its storylines as it reaches its finale. However, there is still a mystery that has yet to be answered.

Japan’s Heroes Need to Prove That They Can Change the World Like Deku

Hero Society Needs to Address the Issues that Create Villains

During chapter #425, Class 1-A was informed about their duty to maintain Japan’s peace, asthe series' epilogue made clear that the country wouldn’t simply go back to normalovernight. After hearing this, Todoroki realized that such a chaotic period could create a new powerful villain like All for One. Right after these scenes, the new possible antagonist of the series was revealed, a young individual who seems to have been tormented. Their introduction heavily implies this new character could become the series’ next antagonist.

Returning to their old ways and fighting this possible villain only to gain fame, would render Deku’s sacrifice worthless.

Like many other villains in the series, their actions will likely bemotivated by the suffering they went through. Most of the series' antagonists were mistreated, abandoned, or rejected by society. Deku, one of the first heroes to notice the discrimination and prejudices that caused villains to be born, told Shigaraki that he would not rest until Hero Society became better. Instead of seeing villains as individuals who just wish to harm others, Deku dreamed of a world where those who have been wronged by society could receive help.

The character introduced in chapter #425 has undoubtedly suffered greatly, whether by the consequences of the war or by another individual’s actions. It is clear that if they indeed turn to villainy, they will not be doing it because of their evil nature. If this is the case, heroes will have an opportunity to prove that they have learnedthe lesson Deku tried to impart to themand help this new villain to the best of their abilities. Returning to their old ways and fighting this possible villain only to gain fame, would render Deku’s sacrifice worthless.

Hero Society Could Prevent the Creation of Another All For One

Helping Villains and Addressing Injustice Is The Way Forward

The war against All For One’s forces brought pain and suffering to most of Japan. Nevertheless, it also brought awareness tothe many social injustices Hero Society was afflicted with. It was these same problems that created an environment in which All For One could spread its influence. If those who survived the war want to prevent the birth of another supervillain, these issues must be addressed. Hero Society needs to let go of its past bias and create the world both Deku and Shigaraki imagined during their last conversation.

No matter what happens next, the world ofMy Hero Academiawill never be the same after the Final War arc. Deku’s sacrifice should lead to a better world in which discrimination and prejudice are not accepted among citizens. If not, the possibility of a new powerful villain rising again will only increase.
