Despite no official renewal yet by Netflix, the star says that he believes seasons 2 and 3 of the show are being filmed in succession, hinting at the much larger production to come. Check out what Mayweather had to say below:

I really felt that that role [Patty] would be for me, and hopefully, you know, there’s a flashback scene with Patty. We’ll see if they flash back to it because they’re filming…two seasons, seasons 2 and 3 back-to-back starting soon, so we’ll see what happens.

How Much Can The Live-Action One Piece Cover In 2 Seasons?

Based on theOne Pieceseason 1 ending, it appears the Loguetown Arc is the next part of the story to be adapted, completing the East Blue Saga in the process. Following this, the series is expected to enter the Arabasta Saga, which features Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates' first adventure within the Grand Line. Although it’s unclear how much of the story will fit into season 2, it’s likely the entire Saga will be condensed for the next eight episodes. However, with season 3 possibly filming alongside it, new possibilities for the story may have opened up.

If season 3 begins filming right after the end of season 1, it could indicate an extended version of the Arabasta Saga that requires more episodes to fully realize. The storyline features multiple islands the group jumps to before reaching the titular destination, where plenty of events transpire that are vital for the larger story of the franchise. Due to how much manages to happen in such a short amount of time, the live-action series might split things up more evenly, taking its time to establish all the important information uncovered in the Saga.

One Piece Editor Eric Litman Talks Creating New Moments In Editing & Teases Season 2

Screen Rant interviews One Piece editor Eric Litman about his work on the pilot and episodes 3 & 4, plus Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

It’s also likely the story simply continues marching forward, with season 3 tackling the Sky Island Saga next. Season 3 could also pull characters from different parts of the story to the forefront, witha new pirate shipfor a future character already spotted on set. If future parts of the story get pulled forward in the timeline more often, then it could mean plenty of unpredictable moments to come no matter what season they happen in. However, with season 3 now a real possibility, anything could happen for the Straw Hat Pirates in future episodes.
