Overwatch 2 player left in debt by confusing in-game store glitch

One Overwatch 2 player has been left completely confused after discovering they are seemingly in debt 23,000 coins in the OW2 store.

Overwatch 2is almost a year and a half into its life cycle, the multiplayer experience one that has struggled to replicate the success of the original game.

While developer Blizzard has been quick to respond to player feedback, particularly when reworking heroes and introducing new skins, the game is still filled with bugs, matchmaking issues, and more.

Another aspect ofOverwatch 2that has brought about major frustration for players is the in-game store. With microtransactions are a staple of the live service game, cost and pricing for skins have been a giant talking point amongst the community.

At large, however, fans have also noticed problems with the in-game store, one player taking to Reddit to reveal that they have a massive negative balance in the OW2 store despite not purchasing anything from the game.

The player shared a photo of their account and questioned, “Why would I even get -23k OW coins from just playing the game normally!! (I linked an Xbox account that had nothing but OW 1 league skins with 0 balance).”

One fellow fan commented on the post, calling the error, “free-to-play on steroids right there.”

Another Redditor commented, “Knowing Blizzard you will have a 55% interest rate. Would you like to pay it all at once or do monthly payments?”

However, other players jokingly offered up ways to help the debtor rid themselves of the excess coins. “Just do all the weekly challenges for 7,5 years and you will get out of negative if I did the math right.”

This is not the first time a player has reported a negative Overwatch 2 balance for no reason. However, this is the most recent case of this happening, and with such a large negative balance to boot.

It’s more than likely nothing more than a visual bug, but we’ll be sure to update you here with any further developments.
