Pirate Software called out by Dr. K for being “arrogant” during therapy session
Twitch streamer and game developer Pirate Software is at the center of another viral discussion after broadcasting his therapy session with fellow internet star and licensed psychiatrist Dr. K.
Pirate Software, real name Jason Thor Hall, is once again facing the internet’s ire months after his disastrousWorld of Warcraftrun that took over social media in early 2025.

For those out of the loop, Hall wasbooted out of a Harcore WoW guildhumorously named ‘OnlyFangs,’ which was filled with other top streamers, following acataclysmic run in Dire Maul North.
Two guild members permanently lost their WoW characters during the run — something both players and viewers at least partiallyblamed Pirate Software for, accusing him of not taking any responsibility for the situation or even attempting to save his mates.

To those trying to character assassinate me online for a bad pull in Diremaul WoW Hardcore. This is Hardcore WoW and a lot is on the line when you step foot into a dungeon. After this, Hall beganbanning Hardcore WoW OnlyFangs streamersfrom his Twitch chat as criticism continued to mount against him. In the months since then, he has become a prime target for critical commenters, especially after viewers claimed hecheated in his playthroughsof The Outer Wilds and Animal Well.

On May 2, Hall joined internet-famous therapist Dr. K for a live-streamed therapy session, where the psychiatrist confronted him over the WoW drama and his attitude toward the scandal.
Dr. K confronts Pirate Software over WoW drama
First, Dr. K gave his interpretation of the WoW raid that started it all. “My understanding of the situation is that you were kind of an ass about something involving a WoW raid, and then my guess is that you were kind of an ass with the way that you responded to it. Because you’re really good at being an ass,” he surmised.

Later on, Pirate addressed the backlash against him, particularly in regards to the way he responded to the criticism surrounding his multiple ‘controversies.’
“I think sometimes the things I talk about in regards to these types of things [are] misconstrued as arrogance or boasting, when in reality, I’m just trying to give context,” Pirate said.
“So, that is the problem right there,” Dr. K retorted. “I wanted you to listen to this phrase: ‘This gets misconstrued as arrogance, but in reality, it’s this.’ That is the most arrogant statement on the planet, bro. Like, tell me I’m wrong.”
In response, Hall continued to maintain his argument, saying he “[doesn’t] see it that way.”
That’s not the only moment from the session that’s going viral; Dr. K admitted that Hall “rubbed him the wrong way” with the way that he spoke to him, calling the streamer “dismissive.”
Pirate argued that, if he were to change his attitude toward the backlash against him, he’d be giving critics “something we both know is not real for the sake of giving them something that’s not real so they stop being mad about something that doesn’t exist” — basically, being ‘fake’ or “dumbing things down” to appease his haters.
Ultimately, Dr. K encouraged Hall to analyze the “disconnect” between how he perceives situations and the language he uses in response to them, asking him to “think about the way he makes statements” that could hurt others’ feelings or seem “dismissive.”
