Summary
Family can be a complicated thing for aRobin, and no one knows that better thanDamian Wayne, whose oft-forgotten sister Maya Ducard has finally returned to DC continuity. Damian’s father is none other than Batman, and his mother is Talia al Ghul, the heir to the League of Assassins. His family is certiainly complex, but things just got a little easier to handle with the return of Damian’s sister.
During the final few moments ofBatman and Robin#10 by Joshua Williamson and Nikola Čižmešija, readers are treated tothe surprise return of Maya Ducard, who shares an important message about the whereabouts of Bane. Maya has been a long-time ally to Damian, and the two have even fostered a brother/sister relationship. It’s one of the few stable friendships that Damian has had in his life.

While Damian’s relationship with his father has been shaky at times, his relationship with Maya has been pretty solid. While they certainly started in a bad spot,Robin and Nobody grew to view each other as siblings, and her return could be exactly the supportRobin needs as he hunts down Bane.

Maya Ducard and Damian Wayne did not start off on good terms.Maya is the daughter of Morgan Ducard (and the granddaughter of Henri Ducard), who was the brutal assassin known as Nobody. Morgan tried to convince Damian toabandon Batman’s way of lifeand instead join up with him, and after a series of events and a particularly tense moment, Damian killed Morgan to protect Batman. It was a brutal moment, and it weighed heavily on Damian. It’s also what brought Maya into his life, as she appeared as the second Nobody, seeking revenge for the murder of her father.
While Damian Wayne may struggle with the rest of his family, it seems that he can always count on his sister.

Over time, Maya was convinced that Damian wasn’t an evil person and hadn’t killed her father out of malice. She was also well aware that her father might not have been the best person. AsDamian tried to make up for the Year of Blood, Damian and Maya actually grew pretty close through their adventures, with Maya even forgiving Damian for the murder of her father and embracing him as her brother. It was a touching moment, and it seems that even as years have passed,Maya still considers Damian a brother and helps him track down Bane.
Damian Wayne’s Family Will Always Include Maya

While Damian and Maya haven’t interacted much beyond hisSon of Batmansolo series, it’s revealed that she was tracking down Bane atRobin’srequest, showing they do stay in touch. WhileDamian Waynemay struggle with the rest of his family, it seems that he can always count on his sister.
