Summary

Ever since the arrival ofBaldur’s Gate 3, cosplayers from all over have been doing their interpretations of beloved characters from both the protagonists' party and beyond. However, one cosplayer decided to not just dress up as one character, but two – Shadowheart and Orin – and tie them together via a villainous ability.

On Reddit, cosplayerMercuryginhighlights a special dual-cosplay set featuring her as Shadowheart and Orin. She titled the special photo “Orin’s Victim.” The significance of this line is not lost on those who have playedBaldur’s Gate 3, as Orin is not only one of the main antagonists but can shapeshift, and even kidnaps and impersonates a party member during one quest.

Specifically, throughout the third act ofBG3, she repeatedly appears in random places disguised as others, much to the shock of the protagonist and even her own allies. Ironically,Shadowheart isn’t one of Orin’s possible kidnapping victims, but this doesn’t make Mercurygin’s cosplay any less impressive.

Fiery Karlach Cosplay Perfectly Captures The BG3 Tiefling Going Into A Rage

Karlach’s fiery raging animation has never looked more realistic than it does in this edit of a cosplay of the tiefling done by LexyKary.

Mercurygin isn’t the only cosplayer to portray Shadowheart since the game’s release. In fact, numerous cosplayers have donned her many looks. Onecosplayer even focused on Shadowheart wearing the Wavemother’s Robe, which is an optional outfit that she, or other party members, can don in the game after completing a certain quest. Others haverecreated her Dark Justicar Armorlook in the real world so that people can see one of the key paths that the character can take in the game.

Returning to Mercurygin, she has become somewhat famous for her ability to recreate Orin’s look. In a previousphotoshoot of Orin The Redshe did, Mercurygin not only put on the blood-style outfit but had the background for the shoot be the Temple of Bhaal, where players fight her in Act 3. The cosplayer’s appearance as Orin is so convincing thatone could easily make the mistake of believing it’s a screenshot from the game, which is reflected in the new shoot with Orin and Shadowheart.

Larian Studios did so well with the title that the gameearned numerous Game of the Year awards, among other accolades. Larian has confirmed, however, that it will not be making anotherBaldur’s Gateentry after3. Even so, tributes to characters like Shadowheart, Orin, Wyll, Karlach, Halsin, and more are likely to continue, whether they be in cosplay form, via fan art, or something else entirely.
