Summary
Helmut Zemo actor Daniel Brühl recently reflected on one ofThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s biggestMCUmemes, stating that “it was a f—-ng brilliant idea.“The Falcon and the Winter Soldierwas the eponymous heroes' chance to make an impression outside ofSteve Rogers' MCU storyand delved intoSam Wilson’s genesis as the new Captain America. Zemo played a supporting role in the series and became a fan favorite in his own right, thanks in no small part to one scene in particular.
In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Daniel Brühl reflected on the scene in episode 3 where Zemo dances in a Madripoor nightclub, praising the moment inthe MCU timelineretrospectively. Brühl compared the scene to a similar one in his most recent project,Becoming Karl Lagerfeld, stating that in both cases the unscripted dance scenes were “a f—-ng brilliant idea.” Although the scene inThe Falcon and the Winter Soldierwas just a couple of seconds long, fan demands prompted Marvel to release the scene in full. Brühl’s full quote can be read below:

Well, it’s funny that you’re mentioning it now, because also in this series, I insisted on a non-scripted dance moment that is not the one in the club, but later on in the show. It’s a beautiful moment, because it’s juxtaposed with a beautiful dance scene of Théodore, of Jacques de Bascher, so you see them both, I think, in the fifth or the sixth episode. It was a beautiful moment, with a wonderful song that they found, which I won’t give away. and with Zemo, it was the same thing. It wasn’t in the script, so I just had this idea, and I think that in both cases, it was a f—-ng brilliant idea.
Falcon & Winter Soldier Ending Explained & MCU Future Setup
As Falcon & The Winter Soldier comes to a dramatic conclusion, we break down every major event for Sam and Bucky, as well as the MCU Phase 4 setup.
Zemo’s Dance Scene Almost Wasn’t Shown In Full
The Falcon and the Winter Soldiersaw Sam and Bucky enlist Zemo to help them locate the Power Broker, who was revealed to be Sharon Carter. When in Madripoor, the three find themselves in a nightclub where Zemo lets loose in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it scene. Despite the brevity of the uncharacteristic moment, it remained one of theMCU’s most memorable scenes.
Upon learning that the scene was initially much longer, fans began calling for Marvel to release the uncut version. Not only did Marvel oblige via its social media channels, but a studio-official hour-long version was also released onYouTube. Since being released in 2021, the video has amassed over 8 million views, cementing it as a fan-favorite sequence.

After featuring heavily inCaptain America: Civil WarandThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Zemo’s MCU career has tied him closely to Bucky Barnes, who is set tolead the team inThunderbolts*. Despite being the mastermind behind the team in Marvel Comics, however, it doesn’t look like Zemo will be appearing in the movie. This isn’t too surprising in the context of the MCU, as this version of Zemo differs substantially from his comic book counterpart, and is unlikely to cooperate with theMCU’s Thunderbolts founder, Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
