Unlike season 1,House of the Dragonseason 2 will not have any major time jumps.Considering that the Targaryen civil war arguably started before Rhaenyra was even born, it made sense for season 1 to span several decades and change theHouse of the Dragoncastas the story progressed. Now, however, all characters and factions tied to the Dance of the Dragons have been properly introduced. Between Luke’s death and the horrifying Blood and Cheese scene, the war between Aemond and Rhaenyra Targaryen is inevitable. This makes the upcomingHouse of the Dragonepisodes even more exciting.

As is usual for HBO shows,House of the Dragonseason 2 will air one episode per week.Following season 2’s premiere on June 16,House of the Dragonwill continue to release new episodes weekly until August 15, 2025. There will not be any breaks.House of the Dragonseason 2 has eight episodes in total, two less than the first season. In other words, afterHouse of the Dragonseason 2, episode 2 airs on Sunday, June 23, the show will air for six more weeks.
